Donate to Project Linus get 25% off Fabric

March 1-31

Donate fabric to Project Linus in our stores and for every yard you donate, get 25% off a yard of fabric. Do good, donate and save on some of our new fabric lines or any fabric in the store. Bring your donations to our Lockport or Hamburg stores.

What is Project Linus?

Project Linus National Headquarters is located in Belton, Missouri. National President Patty Gregory and Vice President Mary Balagna direct and orchestrate the activities of Project Linus chapters located across the United States. Patty has been involved with the organization in the Kansas City area since April 2000 and Mary in Central Illinois since late 1998, as chapter coordinators and now as directors and officers. Mary also maintains a very busy chapter, donating an average of 350 blankets every month to local children. With chapters in all 50 states, Project Linus continues to grow. Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.

"Timeshare" Brown Bag Mystery

Inside these fun bags are all the fabrics to make a quilt, cutting instructions and instructions to join the Facebook group. On March 18th, Karen Montgomery will upload video instructions for the first clue with a demonstration on how to do it. Every two weeks, another video will be uploaded. Each shop will mail out the clues the day before the video is uploaded. The video will be available before you receive the written clues. If you keep up to date with the clues, you will have a finished top by the end of May.

This year's quilt finishes at 52" x 68" before the borders are added. If you like a bigger quilt, Karen has designed this one so that you can purchase two identical kits to make a quilt that finishes at 84" square. If you would like two kits, please order them at the same time as we can't guarantee that we would have the same fabric at a later date.

Jill Finley is the next Stitched Up Stories designer! She has been designing quilt patterns for over 15 years, and now also designs fabric and notions. Her quilt designs show off her fresh style using high contrast fabrics and usually have a bit of applique to soften and finish each design. Jill currently designs fabric with Riley Blake. Creating fabric collections for quilting has been one of Jill’s favorite projects.

She is also the author of several books on quilting, is a Master Designer for Aurifil Threads, and is a BERNINA Ambassador. Her designs have been featured in several national quilting magazines.

She stays busy traveling and teaching, as well as spending time with her family when she returns home to Alpine, Utah.

Stitched Up Stories

You are invited to pull up a chair and join in a fun-filled series of online Story Events with our group of Sponsoring Shops from across the country!

Stitched Up Stories features a different designer each month in a one-hour Zoom session. We will get to know their humble beginnings, creative processes, and current obsessions.

Additionally, designers will share some of their own projects during Show & Tell time! There will be opportunity for Q&A, along with other fun surprises for those who join Stitched Up Stories!

Your seat at each Stitched Up Stories Event is just $20. This fee helps to support the Guest Speaker, as well as your LQS as a Sponsoring Shop!

Can’t make it to the Live Event? No worries! The recordings will be available to registered participants for seven days.

MARCH QUILTING TIP

If you are pressing in “bulk” (i.e. many quilt blocks at a time). Press one block then while it’s still warm, put it under a heavy book either on your ironing board or table. Then add the next “warm” block on top, followed by the book. Keep doing this until you’ve got too many blocks, then move them out from under the book and start again. The heat of the block under the big book with flatten out your seams for you.

Open Sew is every Wednesday in Hamburg from 10:00 - 3:00. Bring a project you're working on, your sewing machine and supplies. Meet others who share your love of sewing! Have a question? We're here all day to help out! It's only $10 cash or $12 credit card for each Wednesday! You MUST sign up or call ahead.
